The Rugby Championship

On the 8th of July, rugby fans can look forward to an exciting Test as the Springboks, led by Duane Vermeulen, take on Australia, in The Rugby Championship, at the iconic Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria. This match holds special significance as Vermeulen will be wearing the captain’s armband for the third time.

 

The COSAFA Cup

As the COSAFA Cup enters its second round of group-stage fixtures, the action begins on Saturday at 15:00 with a highly anticipated match between South Africa and Botswana. Later in the evening, football fans will be treated to a captivating showdown between Namibia and Eswatini.

 

Sunday’s fixtures offer even more thrilling clashes, as Zambia takes on Comoros and Malawi goes head-to-head with Seychelles.

 

As the new week commences, an exciting showdown between Angola and Mauritius kicks off on Monday. Adding to the captivating nature of the COSAFA Cup, Mozambique and Lesotho square off in the final game of the second round.

 

The final round of group stage, scheduled for the 11th, holds significant importance as teams aim to secure their positions and advance in the tournament. Notable matches include Malawi facing Comoros, Seychelles clashing with Zambia, Namibia challenging Botswana, and South Africa going head-to-head with Eswatini. These matches will undoubtedly be filled with determination and fierce competition as teams compete for a spot in the next phase of the COSAFA Cup.

 

In the closing encounters of the group stage, fans can expect a thrilling clash between Angola and Lesotho and an intense showdown between Mauritius and Mozambique on Wednesday at 15:00.

ITT-Africa Youth Championships

On 8th of July, the (International Table Tennis) ITT-Africa Youth Championships will reach its climax on a thrilling final day, featuring the U15 Girls’ Singles Finals, U15 Boys’ Singles Finals, U19 Girls’ Singles Finals, and U19 Boys’ Singles Finals. Young talents in African Table Tennis will showcase their impressive skills and compete for coveted titles.

Cycling

In the world of cycling, the prestigious Tour de France is underway, with riders from across the globe showcasing their prowess. With only two riders representing Africa this year, Louis Meintjes from South Africa sits in 16th spot in the general classification after stage seven, whilst Biniam Girmay from Eritrea who finished off in a fantastic 3rd place in stage seven.

Athletics

Zakithi Nene and Lythe Pillay seized gold and silver in the 400m finals at the International d’Athletisme de Sotteville, adding to the medal tally of eight gold, nine silver and four bronze medals at this event. This week athletics fans can look forward to the Meeting International d’Athletisme de la Province de Liege on the 12th, which promises to be an exciting spectacle. Kenyan star Vivian Chebet Kiprotich will showcase her exceptional talent in the 800m race, while South African talents Glenrose Xaba and Caster Semenya will battle it out in the demanding 5 000m event.
